Drainage Maintenance Record

Build a reliable history of drainage faults, visits and follow-up work, so recurring symptoms are recognised instead of treated as isolated events.

A maintenance record shows what changed over time

Each drain or chamber has one stable site reference

The entry includes symptoms, material removed and the visit date

Footage and follow-up recommendations stay with the same entry

A drainage maintenance record provides a clear history when a drain slows, smells or blocks again. It captures what happened, where it happened and what work followed while the details are still fresh.

The information kept for each drain

  • The affected drain, room or outside area.
  • Symptoms noticed and the date they began. Clearance method used and material removed.
  • CCTV findings, photographs or contractor notes.
  • Recommended repairs, cleaning or monitoring.

Previous visits under one drain reference

Each entry needs a plain location reference, with any footage or invoice stored beside it. If the same run appears repeatedly, our guide to recurring blockages explains why further investigation can be more useful than another identical clearance.

What the record adds to the next visit

Previous findings help the independent drainage company understand the pipe before selecting equipment. The history can also be attached to an enquiry about a persistent fault.

Ask about your drain

Put the next drain visit in the same record

Use the same drain reference from the maintenance log and include the symptom date, visit finding and any footage.
